AERO ALLIANCE piston engine aircraft operating normally in volcanic conditions.

AERO ALLIANCE remains one of the few airlines flying in European airspace because the aircraft used are powered by piston engines. These engines have filters (similar to car engines) which prevent the volcanic ash debris from getting into the combustion chamber.

In the last week, and after completing a detailed risk assessment on our operations, the engine intake filters have been checked on a daily basis. After long flights across Europe from Shoreham to Dublin, Bern, Kiel (which was classified high volcanic ash region) and today Madrid, the filters have picked up no volcanic debris and the aircraft engines have functioned normally. Indeed, due to the increased operational activity, our aircraft engines are actually starting better and running smoother !!!

AERO ALLIANCE prides itself on customer safety and customer service. We are being far from complacent when it comes to the safety of our operations during this period of volcanic activity and have self imposed increased engine checks. We are also in regular communication with the CAA and we remain authorised and free to fly VFR throughout most of European Airspace whilst the jet engined aircraft remain grounded.

We are currently repatriating stranded passengers from Madrid and running frequent flights from Shoreham to Le Touquet to get as many people home as possible.

If you need fast repatriation, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will attempt to get you back asap.
