We were pleased to receive a call recently from a racehorse owner anxious to arrange transport for his jockey to a race meeting at Deauville in northern France. As he pointed out there was no point in his horse being ready without anyone to ride it and the jockey had another engagement the day before in in the UK.

Having instructed at Shoreham Airport for 8 years, I have taught many people who have now spread their wings into several areas of aviation. I was lucky enough to get to share some of this flying with Paul Dean, a club member who decided that the way forward was to get involved in a share of an aircraft based at Shoreham Airport. This allowed Paul to experience a feeling of ownership without the burden of potential heavy maintenance bills and other unknown issues. Over the years we have crewed many flights throughout the UK, Channel Islands and France.
