AERO ALLIANCE was called upon to repartiate a family from Copenhagen who had journeyed all the way from Boston to Reykjavik, then onto Copenhagen where they had been stuck due to Denmark closing their airspace to all aircraft.
After several calls were made to the Danish Authorities, it was clear that the airspace throughout Denmark would remain closed for the forseable future to both VFR and IFR traffic. AERO ALLIANCE took the initiative and telephoned the German Airports on the Danish border. After a valuable conversation with AIRBUS-Hamburg Air Traffic (from an AERO ALLIANCE source), they directed us to consider flying into Kiel and further pointed out that they had 20 aircraft flying VFR in that area with no problems whatsoever.
AERO ALLIANCE contacted a very friendly Kiel Airport and arranged for permission to land there first thing the next day. AERO ALLIANCE then instructed the family concerned to get a taxi to drive then from Copenhagen to Kiel and we would come and bring them back to the UK.
On arrival at Kiel, AERO ALLIANCE were informed that the flight was the only aircraft they had seen for 5 days !!! The 3 hour return flight was un eventfull and the family were mightly relieved to be back in the UK ahead of many who still remain stranded.
Again, AERO ALLIANCE using its initiative and contacts found a swift and straight forward solution to a difficult situation
