The northern French town of Laval in the Pays de la Loire is a market town on the banks of the River Mayenne. It is a tranquil place, certainly recommend for a pleasurable day out, and is near the Mayenne Technology Park with its associated hi-tech electronic and animal pharmaceutical businesses. The town is less than 200 miles south of Brighton and only one hour flight time from Shoreham Airport, but in an area of northern France that is not well served by scheduled air services from the UK - journeys there almost certainly requiring a lengthy transfer in Paris. Our short check-ins and the direct flight time make day trips for business or pleasure a real possibility with Laval town centre only 90 minutes away from the car park at Shoreham Airport!

We recently had the pleasure of flying a family of six there for a day trip and they enjoyed a relaxing day with a nice, lenghty, French-style lunch at a riverside restaurant.

The centre ville (town centre) is well presented with flower gardens all around and there is a children's enclosed carousel opposite the town hall. The town is well organised by the authorities and it is clear that they do go that extra kilometer to make the town look special and welcome for everyone who visits this location.

There are a number of riverside and town restaurants including one onboard an old river cruiser which serves quality French cuisine a-la-carte.

Laval is not just about having a great lunch. When you arrive in this town you can only but walk around and take in the historic sights of this medieval place. There is a tourist information centre which is extremely helpfull in guiding you the main attractions to be seen.

Walk though the medieval old town and browse the boutiques. There are many bargains in this shoppers paradise with some unique French fashion outlets.

Visit and see some great French architecture as you stroll along the river bank.
