Aero Alliance were approached by a family who wanted to go to the Channel Islands, in particular Guernsey for a weekend to get away from the hectic main land to appreciate the great views, great food, a slower pace of life and more importantly tax free shopping! As part of the Aero Alliance travel information service the flight crew explored parts of the island to give you an insight of things to see and do in Guernsey.

Pre flight checks - note the size of the passenger windows. Much better views are to be seen from the back compared with a passenger jet!

Fortunately, as you can see the weather was glorious where the first hop was a short taxi ride into town using a company called "Graham's Taxi". Once in town you will be greeted by a plethora of shops from Costa coffee to Jessops and almost everything in-between, these are laid out in the old part of the town, which has a clean and rustic feel.

Pedestrianised shopping area
Exploring further down the pedestrianised cobble streets you will find yourself at St Peters port. As well as being the main port St Peters port is also the Capital of Guernsey with a population in 2001 of around 16,000 people. From here you will see a beautiful backdrop with the boats bobbing in front of the castle.

Lunch time soon approached where we had a table booked at "The Market Kitchen" which is located in the main square, it was extremely busy around the main square and had almost a Mediterranean feel with everyone out socialising over coffee and lunch. The menu boasted the local seafood caught locally, whereby a lobster open sandwich was highly recommended!
